LONG OBEDIENCE

Walking with the Word: An Endurance Guide
A Bible-Based 12-Week Walking Plan

What if your daily walk could strengthen more than your body?

Long Obedience is a practical 12-week Bible-based walking guide designed to help you build two meaningful habits at the same time: consistent walking and consistent listening to Scripture.

Instead of relying on motivation, complicated fitness goals, or demanding devotional routines, this guide gives you a simple rhythm: walk, listen, return, repeat.

Beginning with manageable 15–20 minute walks, the plan gradually develops toward a long walk of approximately 75–90 minutes. Along the way, you'll listen through Scripture—including the Gospel of Mark, Philippians, Colossians, James, Psalms, and Luke—while learning how to make both movement and God's Word part of ordinary life.

Inside you'll discover practical guidance for:

  • Building endurance gradually without pace or mileage pressure
  • Pairing walking with audio Scripture
  • Choosing Bible books that work well for listening
  • Overcoming the hardest part of a walking habit—the doorway
  • Handling distraction when your mind wanders
  • Adjusting for weather, missed weeks, pain, and schedule changes
  • Developing longer, reflective walks
  • Tracking your walking and Scripture-listening progress
  • Continuing the habit after the 12-week program ends

The plan is organized into three progressive phases: Foundation, Base, and Distance, with a deliberate recovery week built into the program.

There are no speed targets and no mileage minimums. The emphasis is on an easy, conversational effort you can repeat consistently.

The goal isn't an impressive twelve weeks.

It's building a rhythm that can continue long after week twelve.

Same door. Same time. One more mile than last month.
